PLP ISLAND COUNCIL MEMBERS MEET WITH STATE SECRETARY RAYMOND KNOPS ON ST. EUSTATIUS

On November 3rd, 2020, The Progressive labor Party PLP Island Council members met with State Secretary Raymond Knops. There was no was agenda submitted from the side of Knops, the PLP, seized that opportunity to present the topics that they would like to focus on during the meeting. The Topics presented were:  Working Relationship moving forward,  Feedback on the Outcome of the Election,  Restoration of Democracy,  Economic Development and Future Plans for Statia.  Knops expressed words of congratulations to the PLP and team for winning the elections and congratulated the New leader on her position. LEADER OF PLP, MS. RECHELLINE LEERDAM RESPONSE TO ARTICLE OF RONALD VAN RAAK

In photo: PLP Leader, Rechelline Leerdam ORANJESTAD , St. Eustatius October 23, 2020 -- I was unpleasantly surprised by the first reaction coming from a Member of Parliament in The Hague (Ronald van Raak), after St. Eustatius Island Council elections on October 21, 2020. I was hoping for a more positive reaction as the people exercised their right to vote, in spite of the fact Statia will not receive their full democracy, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic.  I would like to make the following clear to Mr. Van Raak: In 2018, Raymond Knops with the backing of both the 1st and 2nd chamber support, chose to remove an elected government based on assumptions and rumors. They took away our democratic rights and placed two government commissioners to take the responsibilities of both the island council and the commissioners. The people did not agree! More than 2 years have passed and to date, no evidence was ever presented to the people of Statia and the World to substantiate the claims . To a
